Basketball Game Preview: El Campo Ricebirds vs. Sweeny Bulldogs

El Campo is on a four-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, Sweeny an eight-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Tuesday. The El Campo Ricebirds will welcome the Sweeny Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

On Friday, 2025 welcomed El Campo with a 65-41 loss courtesy of Brazosport. While losing is never fun, the Ricebirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1191st, while the Exporters are ranked 563rd).

Meanwhile, Sweeny came up short against Columbia on Friday, falling 74-54.

Sweeny's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for El Campo, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.

El Campo strolled past Sweeny in their previous meeting back in December of 2020 by a score of 78-64. Does El Campo have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sweeny turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
