Softball Recap: Fairlawn Jets vs. Houston Wildcats

Fairlawn extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-12 in the process. They lost 8-1 to the Houston Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 on April 3rd.

Daisey Vondenhuevel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

As for Houston, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games.

On Houston's side, Makenna Vondenhuevel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. Vondenhuevel has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Fairlawn will welcome Troy Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Houston, they are taking a road trip to face off against Tippecanoe at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.3, the Red Devils 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
