Baseball Recap: South Bend Riley Comes Up Short

South Bend Riley extended their losing streak to ten on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-18 in the process. They lost 9-0 to the South Bend Adams Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-2 on Tuesday.

As for South Bend Adams, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-18. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.

For South Bend Adams' part, WESSON HOKE made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave HOKE a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, BEN PIECHOCKI was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base was his first of the season. AIDAN MICINSKI was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

South Bend Riley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-4 defeat against Concord on the 17th. As for South Bend Adams, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-2 victory against Elkhart Christian Academy on the 15th.
