Volleyball Recap: South Gwinnett Comes Up Short

South Gwinnett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Archer Tigers. If the Comets were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While South Gwinnett was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-22.

Cydni Walker paced South Gwinnett's offense, picking up five kills. Walker got some help from Blessing Onyeanula and her five assists. Onyeanula was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Jayana Castro was the offensive standout of the contest as she had six digs and two aces.

South Gwinnett's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Archer, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

South Gwinnett has already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Berkmar on the 19th. As for Archer, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Chamblee on the 16th.
