Softball Recap: Manchester Makes It Ten in a Row at Home

Manchester had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They never let the Northwestern Huskies get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. Considering the Panthers have won 14 matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Alli Hodgkinson was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Saige Rankin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Manchester kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwestern only managed one hit.

Manchester's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Northwestern, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-11.

As of now, neither Manchester nor the Huskies have any future games scheduled.
