Football Recap: Mason Taylor Key Part of Team Effort in Spartans Win + How To Watch

East Nicolaus won the last time they faced Marysville and things went their way on Friday too. The Spartans walked away with a 26-18 win over the Indians.

East Nicolaus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason Taylor led the charge by rushing for 123 yards and one TD while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also throwing for 135 yards and one touchdown on only ten passes. That's the most rushing yards Taylor has posted since back in September of 2024.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: East Nicolaus was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 243 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Loss or not, Marysville got some senior leadership from Andrew Salguero and Joshua Adams. Salguero gained 149 total yards, while Adams rushed for 69 yards and one score on only eight carries.

East Nicolaus now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Marysville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Nicolaus will venture away from home to challenge West Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Marysville, they will head out to face off against Center at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Indians' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
