Soccer Game Preview: Tascosa vs. Monterey

The Tascosa Rebels will square off against the Monterey Plainsmen at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Tascosa's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Tascosa fell victim to Lubbock and their airtight defense on Saturday. They fell just short of the Westerners by a score of 1-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Rebels came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Westerners are ranked 640th).

Meanwhile, Monterey put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Caprock.

Jimi Gonzalez and Frankie Diaz scored both of Monterey's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 26 goals.

Tascosa's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Monterey, their win bumped their record up to 14-0.
