The Middlesex Chargers are taking a road trip to face off against the Northampton Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Middlesex is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.5 goals per game this season.

Middlesex is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering West Point just ended the team's three-match winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Pointers by a score of 2-1.

Middlesex's goal came courtesy of Brayden Bruce, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, Northampton had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 goals) and they went ahead and made it five last Monday. Everything went their way against the Firebirds as they made off with a 7-1 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Northampton's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Arcadia are ranked 250th).

Middlesex's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Northampton, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.

Middlesex suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Northampton when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
