Basketball Game Preview: Jefferson Cavaliers vs. Mitchell Kernels

The Jefferson Cavaliers will head out to face off against the Mitchell Kernels at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mitchell took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Jefferson, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Jefferson turned things around against Roosevelt on Saturday. They escaped with a win against the Rough Riders by the margin of a single free throw, 58-57.

Meanwhile, Mitchell faced Lincoln in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Mitchell took a 69-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lincoln. The Kernels' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Jefferson's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9. As for Mitchell, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.

Jefferson came up short against Mitchell when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 69-61. Can Jefferson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
