Basketball Recap: Sharp Academy Takes a Loss

Sharp Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Dallas Academy Bulldogs, falling 73-30.

Timothy Rodriguez and Michael Boyles certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Rodriguez dropped a double-double on 15 points and 25 boards, while Boyles posted 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 43.3% of Sharp Academy's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Chase Keyton also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Sharp Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Dallas Academy, they moved to 3-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Sharp Academy will square off against Dallas Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th. Dallas Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Sharp Academy likes a good challenge. As for Dallas Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-23 victory against Flint Academy on the 4th.
