Basketball Recap: Whitney Wildcats vs. Clifton Cubs

The Whitney Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They were outmatched by Clifton at home and fell 55-20. While losing is never fun, Whitney can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1154th, while the Cubs are ranked 570th).

Clifton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Laylah Gaona, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Avary Woosley, who scored five points along with five assists and four steals.

Whitney has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season. As for Clifton, their win bumped their record up to 17-12.

Whitney will head out on the road to challenge the Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keene is on a four-game streak of home losses, the Wildcats a seven-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Clifton will take on the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. West's defense has only allowed 27.6 points per game this season, so the Cubs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
