Basketball Game Preview: Hastings Saxons vs. Marshall Redhawks

Hastings hasn't had much luck against Marshall recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hastings Saxons will challenge the Marshall Redhawks at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hastings is coming into the matchup on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They came out on top against Lakewood by a score of 53-41 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marshall). They blew past Otsego 69-41 on Tuesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Redhawks with their most commanding win of the season.

The victory was the third in a row for Marshall, bringing their record for this year to 10-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Hastings, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-11.

Hastings and Marshall were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but Hastings came up empty-handed after a 50-49 loss. Can Hastings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
