Volleyball Recap: Gompers Prep Academy Comes Up Short

Gompers Prep Academy lost against Mountain Empire back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Eagles came up short against the Redhawks, falling 3-0. The Eagles' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

While Gompers Prep Academy was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Mountain Empire's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-20, 26-24.

Mountain Empire's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Oscar Plasencia, who had 15 digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Plasencia a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gaddiel Caceres, who had 14 digs and two aces.

Gompers Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Mountain Empire, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Looking ahead, Gompers Prep Academy will challenge High Tech CV at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Bruins at the right time seeing as the Bruins are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Mountain Empire, they will square off against Crawford at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
