Basketball Recap: East Carteret Takes a Loss

East Carteret was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 62-39 to the Lejeune Devil Pups. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Devil Pups this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-30 last Wednesday.

Lejeune's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Devon Charles led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. The match was Charles' fifth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Dorelien, who went 5-for-11 en route to 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

East Carteret's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Lejeune, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Carteret will face off against Northside - Pinetown at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northside - Pinetown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.1 points per game this season. As for Lejeune, they will take on Jones at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lejeune knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully Jones likes a good challenge.
