Basketball Recap: Riverdale Takes a Loss

Riverdale suffered their biggest loss since February 1st on Thursday. They were beaten by the Kings Christian Crusaders 68-36. The defeat continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now lost five in a row.

Kings Christian found their leader in freshman Andrew Ortega, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine steals. Those nine steals set a new season-high mark for Ortega. Luke Uphoff was another key player, going 5 for 6 on his way to 11 points.

Riverdale's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Kings Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Riverdale and Orange Cove will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kings Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-54 win against Mendota on the 13th.
