Football Recap: Gilbert Christian Takes a Loss

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four contests, Gilbert Christian finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were dealt a 43-6 defeat at the hands of the Benjamin Franklin Chargers. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Knights, who until this game were averaging 14.86 points allowed.

Caleb Ely threw for 69 yards on 12 of 20 attempts. Kamari Stanbury was his top target, picking up 43 receiving yards.

Benjamin Franklin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Stetka, who rushed for 66 yards and three scores. Stetka has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Another passer making a difference was Gavin Wyler, who threw for 281 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gilbert Christian fell to 6-1. As for Benjamin Franklin, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Gilbert Christian and Benjamin Franklin will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Knights see the field they'll take on Crismon at 7:00 p.m. on the 16th. As for Benjamin Franklin, their break will end when they face ALA - Ironwood at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
