Soccer Game Preview: Staunton vs. Hillsboro

The Staunton Bulldogs will square off against the Hillsboro Hiltoppers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hillsboro will be up against a hot Staunton team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Bulldogs never let East Alton-Wood River get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Monday. Ryenne Dugger was a massive factor in the win as she booted in four goals all by herself.

Staunton's lineup was just a bit different on Monday as Brooke Rucker got a bit more time on the pitch (34 vs. her season average of 18). Rucker made the most of the opportunity, putting up two assists A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, Hillsboro's game on Wednesday was close up to the half, but then they kicked things up a notch. Everything went their way against Pana as they made off with a 3-0 victory. Hillsboro haven't had any issues with Pana recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Staunton pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those eight matches. As for Hillsboro, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
