Baseball Recap: Great Valley Comes Up Short

Great Valley made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Unionville, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Patriots fell just short of the Longhorns by a score of 9-7 on Monday. It was the first time this season that the Patriots let down their fans at home.

Colton Manning was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Callahan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for Great Valley and nudges their season record down to 11-3. As for Unionville, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6.

Looking ahead, Great Valley will venture away from home to square off against Kennett at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Demons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Unionville, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Coatesville at 4:00 p.m. The Red Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Longhorns' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
