Baseball Game Preview: Covenant Christian Warriors vs. Perry Meridian Falcons

Weston Laughlin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Covenant Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Ferkinhoff, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Barrett Beyers also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Perry Meridian unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Greenfield-Central by a score of 2-1.

Austin McNabb was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in April.

Perry Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Covenant Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Covenant Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Perry Meridian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
