Baseball Game Preview: Atlantic Sharks vs. University Titans

Atlantic is 0-5 against University since March of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Atlantic Sharks are taking a road trip to take on the University Titans at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Atlantic has six straight wins, University has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Atlantic proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 11) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Mainland 6-5.

Jayden Lombardi made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josiah Perez, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between University and Spruce Creek, and Spruce Creek kept the tradition alive. University came up short against Spruce Creek on Tuesday, falling 11-1.

Atlantic's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for University, they now have a losing record of 4-5-2.

Atlantic might still be hurting after the 10-1 loss they got from University in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can Atlantic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
