Baseball Recap: Hawken Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hawken). They put the hurt on the Western Reserve Academy Pioneers with a sharp 15-0 victory on Monday. With that win, the Hawks brought their scoring average up to 7.5 runs per game.

Tanner Brandt made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kevin Oster, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, two RBI, and one run. That run was his first of the season. Sam Neubauer was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Hawken always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Hawken, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Hawken has already played their next matchup, a 5-0 defeat against Perry on the 8th. As for Western Reserve Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-0 loss against Medina Christian Academy on the 9th.
