Elkhorn North's loss ends 12-game winning streak on the road

Recap: Elkhorn North vs. Waverly Vikings

It was a good run, but Elkhorn North unfortunately witnessed the end of their 38-game winning streak dating back to last season on Friday. They fell 58-48 to Waverly. Elkhorn North was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Waverly apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Waverly's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Peyton Tritz, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Christiansen, who scored 13 points.

Elkhorn North's loss ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-1. As for Waverly, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elkhorn North will face off against South Sioux City on Tuesday. South Sioux City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Elkhorn North is ranked first). As for Waverly, they will head out on the road to challenge Gretna East at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gretna East is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
