Volleyball Recap: Gretna Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Elkhorn North

Gretna faced Elkhorn North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Dragons fell 3-1 to the Wolves. The Dragons' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Gretna was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Elkhorn North work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-12, 29-27, 20-25, 25-21.

Logann Dostal paced Gretna's offense, picking up 16 kills. Dostal got some help from Maggie Miller and her 43 assists. Finally, Leighton Froehlich kept Gretna's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Elkhorn North was led to victory by Millie Mauch and Reese Wallraff. Mauch had 14 digs and two aces, while Wallraff had 13 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Mauch has posted since back in November of 2024.

Gretna now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Elkhorn North, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Gretna wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Elkhorn on the 4th. As for Elkhorn North, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Hastings on the 4th.
