Softball Game Preview: Villa Joseph Marie Jems vs. Archbishop Wood Vikings

The Villa Joseph Marie Jems are taking a road trip to challenge the Archbishop Wood Vikings at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Villa Joseph Marie will head out to face Archbishop Wood after giving up their first home loss of the season on Tuesday. The Jems came up short against Mt. St. Joseph Academy, falling 7-1. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Jems couldn't push the score so high this time.

Villa Joseph Marie saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Megan Cassidy, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Cassidy's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Wood didn't have quite enough to beat Nazareth Academy on Tuesday and fell 7-6.

Haley Kley and Katherine Freligh stepped up to the plate in a big way. Kley scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Freligh scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Lilliana Walters was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Archbishop Wood now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Villa Joseph Marie, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 3-6.

Villa Joseph Marie couldn't quite get it done against Archbishop Wood in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Jems avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
