Basketball Recap: Pelion Falls Despite Big Games from Daleon Phillips and Kolton Rogers

Pelion has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to the Strom Thurmond Rebels on the road by a 41-22 margin on Friday. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Kolton Rogers and Daleon Phillips certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Rogers posted 11 points and three steals, while Phillips put up six points and three steals.

Strom Thurmond's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from AJ Walker, who earned 12 points and three steals. What's more, Walker also posted a 57% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Landen Jones, who scored five points along with eight boards and four steals.

Pelion's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Strom Thurmond, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-11.

When Pelion and Strom Thurmond next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Pelion will challenge Batesburg-Leesville and their three-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Strom Thurmond will try to stop Saluda's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
