Softball Recap: Midway Takes Down Franklin Academy in a Playoff Battle

Midway had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Franklin Academy Patriots with a sharp 11-1 victory on Tuesday. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Samantha Carter and Peyton Hering did most of the damage at the plate: Carter went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Hering went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Karabeth Benton, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Midway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in eight consecutive games.

Midway's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2. As for Franklin Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.

Coming up, Midway will take on East Duplin on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders 1.4, the Panthers 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Franklin Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
