Baseball Game Preview: Attica Blue Devils vs. Kendall Eagles

The Attica Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Kendall Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Attica is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Attica turned things around against Byron-Bergen on Thursday. They walked away with an 11-6 victory over the Bees.

Blaine Datzler made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Attica's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-7 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Attica got a massive performance out of Justin Stockweather, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Hunter Green, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Kendall's offense. They fell just short of Notre Dame by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.

Kendall's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-2. As for Attica, their record now sits at 4-8.

Attica suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Kendall in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
