Blake Arnsman was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kendall Knox, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mendon Unity kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Liberty's offense. They came up short against Rushville-Industry on Wednesday, falling 16-0. The Eagles have struggled against the Rockets recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 6-6-1. As for Mendon Unity, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mendon Unity has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've averaged .435. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
