Baseball Game Preview: Miyamura Patriots vs. Silver Fighting Colts

The Miyamura Patriots will head out to challenge the Silver Fighting Colts at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Miyamura is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Miyamura and Piedra Vista, and Piedra Vista kept the tradition alive. Miyamura might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-4 to Piedra Vista, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Xavier Brown made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Nikki Torres, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Silver, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Mescalero Apache 22-0 on Saturday. That 22 run margin sets a new team best for the Fighting Colts this season.

Silver's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Alex Reyes, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Gable Stern also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Miyamura's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Silver, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Silver's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Miyamura has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. It's a different story for Silver, though, as they've only averaged .213. Will they be able to contain Miyamura's hitters?

Miyamura came out on top in a nail-biter against Silver in their previous matchup back in March of 2020, sneaking past 2-1. Does Miyamura have another victory up their sleeve, or will Silver turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
