Football Game Preview: Leo Lions vs. Columbia City Eagles

The Leo Lions will challenge the Columbia City Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Leo knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Columbia City likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Leo was able to grind out a solid victory over Huntington North, taking the game 35-28.

Nathan Foster was his usual excellent self, rushing for 212 yards and three scores while picking up 8.5 yards per carry, and also picking up 56 receiving yards and one TD. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 133 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Titus Stoller, who rushed for 72 yards and one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Leo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 287 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 155 rushing yards in eight consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 42 points the game before, Columbia City was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They were dealt a 41-10 defeat at the hands of East Noble. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Knights are ranked 27th).

Columbia City has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Leo, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
