Recap: McLaughlin Mustangs vs. Winner Warriors
After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three matches, the McLaughlin Mustangs finally came back down to earth on Friday. Their tough 45-20 loss to Winner might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points McLaughlin has scored all season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, McLaughlin struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Winner racked up 11 assists.
Winner found their leader in underclassman Kylie Sachtjen, who scored 13 points along with eight steals. Sachtjen has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cici Watson, who scored six points.
McLaughlin's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Winner, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
McLaughlin will head out on the road to take on Standing Rock at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. McLaughlin is facing Standing Rock at the right time seeing as Standing Rock is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Winner, they will head out on the road to take on Platte/Geddes at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
