Volleyball Game Preview: Irvington Vikings vs. Kennedy Titans

The Irvington Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Kennedy Titans at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for Irvington and five for Kennedy.

On Tuesday, Irvington came up short against Mission San Jose and fell 3-1.

The final score came out to 25-15, 10-25, 25-19, 25-19.

Kennedy had taken Newark Memorial down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Titans fell 3-1 to the Cougars.

Kennedy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 25-12, 25-23, 25-19.

Irvington will need to focus on slowing down Sailor Guerrero, one of several Kennedy players who made an impact when they last played. She had 14 digs. Isabella Ponce also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.

Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Irvington, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Everything went Irvington's way against Kennedy when the teams last played back in September, as Irvington made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
