Baseball Game Preview: El Capitan Vaqueros vs. Grossmont Foothillers

El Capitan is 2-8 against Grossmont since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Vaqueros will look to defend their home field against the Foothillers at 4:00 p.m. Neither El Capitan nor Grossmont posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Friday, El Capitan came up short against Helix and fell 5-2. The Vaqueros have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

El Capitan saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Seth Walker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run. Branden Hawkins also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Grossmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Granite Hills, falling 13-0.

El Capitan's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Grossmont, their loss dropped their record down to 9-17.

Everything went El Capitan's way against Grossmont in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as El Capitan made off with a 16-7 win. Will the Vaqueros repeat their success, or do the Foothillers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
