Baseball Recap: Elkhorn Triumphs

Elkhorn took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Fremont, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Elkhorn came out on top against Fremont on Friday by a score of 4-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For the Antlers, this counts as revenge for the 15-7 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Caiden Severson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Severson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he brought in this season.

In other pitching news, Beau Twohig looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

Back at the plate, Elkhorn let Camden Carle and Elliot Beister run wild. Carle scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Beister went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Beister has posted since back in March of 2024.

Elkhorn now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Fremont, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Elkhorn and Fremont will both be playing Crete the next time they take the field. Fremont will head out to face Crete at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, while Elkhorn will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
