Basketball Recap: Cosby Eagles vs. Cherokee Braves
Cosby was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 89-37 loss at the hands of the Cherokee Braves. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-30.
Cherokee was led to victory by Aaliyah Rogers and Joscelyn Stamper. Rogers posted 15 points in addition to four steals and three blocks, while Stamper dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 boards. Stamper is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Whitney Rogers, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 17 points.
Cosby's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Cherokee, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Cosby will venture away from home to challenge Pigeon Forge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cherokee, they will welcome Hayesville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cherokee knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Hayesville likes a good challenge.
