Basketball Recap: Fort Hill Comes Up Short

Fort Hill lost against Southern last Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Fort Hill Sentinels came up short against the Southern Rams, falling 60-38. While losing is never fun, the Sentinels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Rams are ranked tenth).

Southern was led to victory by Joycelyn Ward and Gabbi Berry. Ward posted eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Berry scored 12 points. Berry is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Carly Wilt, who had seven points.

Fort Hill is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6. As for Southern, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.

Coming up, Fort Hill will challenge Ferndale at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Southern, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Mountain Ridge at 7:30 p.m.
