Baseball Recap: Capital Golden Eagles vs. Eagle Mustangs
Capital extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 11-16 in the process. They came up short against the Eagle Mustangs, falling 20-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 back in April.
Cooper Myers was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Brady Ruzicka was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
As for Eagle, their record now sits at 14-11. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
On Eagle's side, Jacob Ames looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Ames has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jack Swanstrom was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, six RBI, and two doubles. Eagle is undefeated when Swanstrom posts two or more runs, but 10-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Easton Gothberg, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Capital does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Eagle has already played their next game (against Owyhee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
