Volleyball Preview: Sparta Spartans vs. Aquinas Blugolds        
        
		
             Sparta is 0-10 against Aquinas since September of 2019 but things could change  on Thursday. The Sparta Spartans will welcome the Aquinas Blugolds  at 7:10  p.m. Both come into the  game bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
 Having struggled with three  defeats in a row, Sparta finally turned things around against La Crosse Central  on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by  a  3-0 margin over the Riverhawks.
 Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-21,  25-21.
 Sparta can attribute much of their success to  Kaylie Church, who  had seven  digs and 16  assists.
 Meanwhile, Aquinas waltzed into their match  on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with  a   3-1  win over the Hilltoppers.
 Aquinas was especially dominant in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-15, 12-25,  25-21.
  Josephine Lawton was nothing short of spectacular: she  had 15  digs, two  kills,  and 27  assists. She is  on a roll when it comes to  assists, as she's  now  posted 12 or more in the last 23 games she's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  Tessa Miskowski, who  had 11  digs.
 Sparta's victory  ended  a  six-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 14-14. As for Aquinas, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won 12 of their last 13 contests,  which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record  this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of  Thursday's  matchup:  Sparta has really dialed in their serving  this season,  having  averaged 6.8  aces per game. However, it's not like Aquinas struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 6.1. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
