Baseball Recap: Knoxville Catholic Find Success

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Knoxville Catholic ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Heritage Mountaineers. The Fighting Irish have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mountaineers, too.

Manny Maurer looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Conor Hussey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate O'Donnell, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

The win made it two in a row for Knoxville Catholic and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Knoxville Catholic will welcome Powell at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Heritage, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Alcoa at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
