Baseball Game Preview: Kenowa Hills Knights vs. Forest Hills Northern Huskies

The Kenowa Hills Knights will challenge the Forest Hills Northern Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kenowa Hills has four straight victories, Forest Hills Northern has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Saturday, Kenowa Hills made easy work of Allendale and carried off a 7-1 win. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Keegan Garvin looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kenowa Hills let Brennan Gustinis and Jack Stoddard run wild. Gustinis went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Stoddard went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base was Gustinis' first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Fussman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Kenowa Hills hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Forest Hills Northern came up short against Forest Hills Eastern on Wednesday, falling 12-5.

Theo Bosio was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Mateo Rodriguez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Kenowa Hills pushed their record up to 5-1-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Forest Hills Northern, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
