Softball Recap: Bourbon County Takes a Loss

Bourbon County extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 1-14. They came up short against the George Rogers Clark Cardinals, falling 23-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-2 two weeks ago.

As for George Rogers Clark, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-2. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won 17 matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

For George Rogers Clark's part, they got a massive performance out of Bella Guinn, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave Guinn a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Abner, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bourbon County will welcome Lexington Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for George Rogers Clark, they will take on West Jessamine at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cardinals 2.1, the Colts 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
