Baseball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for Ayer Shirley

Ayer Shirley proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by nine) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-12 win over the Lunenburg Blue Knights. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Blue Knights recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Ayer Shirley's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kenny Lewis, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those three hits gave Lewis a new career-high.

Ayer Shirley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Ayer Shirley's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Lunenburg, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-8 record.
