Centennial lost against Kell back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Knights were beaten by the Longhorns 55-20. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Longhorns are ranked 33rd).

Centennial's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Aj Hatton, who threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns, and Junior Howard, who picked up 105 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Howard showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 67 yards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Moonie Gipson, who rushed for 172 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries. Gipson also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Longhorns are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Donte Grant, who rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Centennial and nudges their season record down to 5-3. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Cambridge (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 82.6% over those games). As for Kell, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Coming up, Centennial will face off against Blessed Trinity at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Titans' defense has only allowed 13.4 points per game this season, so the Knights' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Kell, they will be playing at home against Cambridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Longhorns will need to watch out since the Bears have now posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups.
