Baseball Game Preview: Mercedes Tigers vs. Porter Cowboys

The Mercedes Tigers will face off against the Porter Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Mercedes will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Porter, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Mercedes skirted past Porter 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since April 9, 2024.

For Porter's part, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hugo Sanchez, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Sanchez has posted since back in April of 2024. Another was Angel Cortez, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Mercedes' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-6. As for Porter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.
