Basketball Recap: TMI-Episcopal Comes Up Short

TMI-Episcopal lost against Second Baptist back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The game between the TMI-Episcopal Panthers and the Second Baptist Eagles didn't end well, with the TMI-Episcopal Panthers falling 66-48. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Eagles are ranked 42nd).

Second Baptist got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Reese Alston out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine assists. Alston's evening made it 19 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Goolsby, who went 7 of 12 en route to 18 points.

TMI-Episcopal has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Second Baptist, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 24-2.

TMI-Episcopal will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against St. Michael's at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in St. Michael's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 22 contests. Second Baptist has already played their next game (against Lutheran South Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
