Basketball Recap: Westview Comes Up Short

Westview was the 56-54 winner over Omaha Central when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Wolverines took a 76-62 bruising from the Eagles on Monday.

Despite the loss, Westview saw an underclassman step up: freshman EJ Swindle posted nine points along with six assists and six boards. Reegon Hollingsworth was another key player, putting up ten points.

Lenox Haynes had an outrageously good game for Omaha Central as he shot 82% from the field on his way to 25 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Haynes a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (75%). Another player making a difference was King Knight, who put up 17 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Westview's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Omaha Central, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Westview wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 72-43 victory against Omaha Northwest on the 10th. As for Omaha Central, they have also already played their next matchup, a 65-62 win against Benson on the 10th.
