Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newton-Conover). They were the clear victor by a 9-0 margin over the West Caldwell Warriors on Tuesday. It was an even better day for Stella Phillips as she scored three goals for her team.

The win (which was Newton-Conover's third in a row) raised their record to 3-4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for West Caldwell, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Newton-Conover will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincolnton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lincolnton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.5 goals per game this season. As for West Caldwell, they will venture away from home to challenge Bunker Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Caldwell has given up an average of 5.7 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.
