The Sheldon Huskies will face off against the Del Oro Golden Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Sheldon proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Francis, sneaking past 5-4.

Micah Kennedy and Kwinci Brown were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Kennedy pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Brown didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Kennedy went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Brown went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Kennedy's first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sinitalela Heleta, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Chapman, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Sheldon lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Del Oro put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Pioneer 5-3. While the Golden Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Mikayla Finn looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.
On the hitting side, Abby Davidson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Chloe Champas was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Del Oro pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of six runs across that stretch. As for Sheldon, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sheldon has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .444. However, it's not like Del Oro struggles in that department as they've averaged .474. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sheldon came out on top in a nail-biter against Del Oro in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sheldon since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
