Volleyball Recap: Torrington Comes Up Short

Torrington was the 3-2 winner over Kennedy when they last played one another on September 5th, but their luck changed this time around. The Raiders fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Raiders' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Torrington took Kennedy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking 25-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 0-25, 25-0, 25-0, 0-25, 25-0.

Piper Battistoni paced Torrington's offense, picking up nine kills. Battistoni were helped by Piper Robinson and Angelina Ciesco, who contributed nine assists each. Anna Slate and Emily Jones kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with four aces apiece.

Torrington's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Kennedy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Torrington will challenge rival Seymour at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Kennedy is set to square off against their familiar foe Wolcott at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
