Football Recap: Academy of Richmond County Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After soaring to 47 points the game before, Academy of Richmond County was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. The matchup between the Musketeers and the West Laurens Raiders didn't end well, with the Musketeers falling 21-7. The game marked the Musketeers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Carson Hand threw for 112 yards on 18 of 30 attempts. Carl Butler was his top target, picking up 48 receiving yards and one TD.

Ty Cummings produced another solid performance rushing for 159 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also picking up 31 receiving yards for West Laurens. Cummings' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 159 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Cason Pollack, who rushed for 13 yards and one score.

Academy of Richmond County's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for West Laurens, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Coincidentally, Academy of Richmond County and West Laurens will both be playing Hephzibah the next time they take the field. The Raiders will host the Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Musketeers will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on the 24th.
